Youth Camp 2010

"Diggin' deep, moving mountains"

That was the theme for LEYP's first Youth Camp since the church was dedicated in 2005. Nearly 80 participants joined the Youth camp held at Golden Sands Baptist Assembly, Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan last week.

The youths, aged from 13- 23 departed from CDM at about 2.30pm (err.. 2.45pm.. they waited for some stuffs to be loaded.. Sorrie..) on two different buses. Reached PD nearly at 4.30pm thanks to the bus driver who decided to use the coastal road from Sepang which Mervin and I took the wrong road at Sepang and nearly went back to Klang. Upon reaching there, the keys to the dorm were given out and we played some ice-breakers before Jonathan give us some briefing about the rules and regulations at the camp. That night, we had a movie discussion on the movie titled 'Facing the Giants'. It was a nice movie which I had watched before during one of the retreats last year. "With God, all things are possible". That was the meaning of the movie which many had been touched watching it while some of then also use those phrase when they have team buildings and games :).

The second day, Eric leads us with morning exercise which he made us to jump around the field.. something called 'jumping jacks'. We had breakfast and Praise and Worship soon after that. Mervin later gave us a session on Discipleship on how to be a good disciples. His jokes are hillarious! Reuben then took over with another session call Team Building which consist of indoor and outdoor activities. After lunch, there was a discussion on interest groups which the participants can choose which interest group they would like to join. There are 4 interest groups which are, Music, Drama and Dance, Sports and Media. Later on, we had some free time and some of us went to the beach (I only went for like 5 mins..) Soon after that we prepared ourselves for Mass. Wait it's a Communion Service. I dont know why. Apparently, the priest went missing. I'm not happy there is no Mass, no priest from PD ka? We had communion service which was late, pity Jason Ho and Philip Z who was stuck in a heavy traffic jam at Nilai on the way here but thanks! You both really made it. After the Service, we had talent time where all groups have to do their performance. You all are just great! I enjoyed every single little performance!

The third day was the last day, :(
I always get emo la on the last day. Even in LnL.. We had Praise and Worship session lead by Cheryl Cole Stephanie followed by ministering and a session by Mervin. Mervin then had a good activity called the sandwich board. I was really touched by the comments by the participants and when Mervin played that Dionne Warwick -That's What Friends Are For song, i started to bocor. I was touched, Later on, Evaluation forms and bookmarks were given out to the participants before we leave PD.

Overall, it was a good camp, never seen that kind of full participation before. Seriously gonna be one of the best retreats i've been after Love and Life '09. It was such a long planing to make this a successful camp. I myself never believe i'm gonna play the drums for the camp as I never practice for so long. But I know Lord, that you will be here with me! Congrats to the committee, advisor Mervin and Lydia and all the participants of LEYP YOUTH CAMP 2010!
